This policy explains what KomikID collects, why, which other services process it and how to delete it. It covers the KomikID app on Android and iOS and this website.

1. Information we collect

When you sign in

Your name, email address and profile picture from your Google or Apple account. If you upload your own avatar, we store it too.

When you use the app with an account

Your favourites and reading history, so your library follows you between devices.
The comments and reactions you post.
Bug reports you send, including any screenshots you attach and the app version and device model the app adds.
A push notification token, so we can tell you about new chapters and replies.
Your Premium status, so the app knows whether to show ads.

Automatically

Usage and crash data through Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics, such as screens opened, app version, device model and crash traces.
An advertising identifier, used by Google AdMob when it shows ads (see section 4).

As a guest

If you don't sign in, your library and reading history stay on your device. We still receive the automatic data above.

2. How we use it

Run your account and sync your library across devices.
Show your comments and reactions to other readers.
Send the notifications you asked for.
Investigate bugs and crashes, and reply to your reports.
Check your Premium status and hide ads for subscribers.
Show ads to readers without Premium.
See which features are used so we can improve the app.
Moderate comments and enforce our Terms of Service.

3. Services that process your data

We rely on these services. Each one handles data under its own privacy policy.

Firebase (Google): Analytics, Crashlytics and Cloud Messaging: usage statistics, crash reports and push notifications.
Google AdMob: Shows ads to readers without Premium.
Google Play Billing: Processes Premium purchases on Android. We receive the purchase status, never your payment details.
Cloudflare R2: Stores avatars and bug report screenshots.
Google Sign-In: Confirms who you are when you sign in with Google.
Sign in with Apple: Confirms who you are when you sign in with Apple on iOS. You can choose to hide your real email address.

4. Ads

Ads appear only for readers without Premium.

On iOS, ads are not personalised and the app never asks for tracking permission.

On Android, you can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in your device's Google settings.

5. Sharing

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with the services listed above, when the law requires it, or to protect our readers and the service. Your name, avatar, comments and reactions are visible to other readers.

6. Storage and security

Account data is stored on the KomikID backend, which we run for both KomikID and KomiKu. Avatars and screenshots are stored in Cloudflare R2. Data travels over encrypted HTTPS connections, and only the team that runs the service can access the servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.

7. Retention and deletion

We keep account data while your account exists. When you delete your account, it is scheduled for deletion and purged after 30 days. Signing in again within those 30 days cancels the deletion. After the purge, your profile, favourites, reading history, comments and avatar are removed. We keep anonymised, aggregate analytics that can't identify you. See Delete account for the steps.

8. Your choices

Read as a guest, without an account.
Turn off notifications in your device settings.
Opt out of personalised ads (see section 4), or remove ads with Premium.
Delete your account at any time.
Email us to ask about the data we hold about you.

9. Children

KomikID is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. This website

This website has no accounts, cookies or analytics. It remembers your language and theme choice in your browser's local storage. Fonts load from Google Fonts.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will post the new version on this page and change the date at the top.
